The Center for Academic Services Organized a Trial Activity for the Nakhon Si Thammarat Coastal Community Tourism Route.

The Center for Academic Services of Walailak University is driving social engagement efforts under “The Project for the Development of Low-carbon Tourism Activities and Routes in Coastal Communities of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.” These activities are integrated with the teaching and learning of the course THB60-312 (Tourism Resource Planning and Development), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onanong Cheablam from the School of Management. The project involves students conducting field assessments in four target areas: Baan Pak Phaya Blue Swimming Crab Bank Group, Baan Pak Nam Pak Phun Blue Swimming Crab Bank Group, Baan Laem Homestay Blue Swimming Crab Bank Group, and the Blue Swimming Crab Bank and Coastal Fishery Learning Center in Ban Nai Tung.

They have designed a one-day trip program that includes planning the main attractions, points of interest in the area, duration, distance, travel, activities, and local signature cuisine. The objective is to develop low-carbon tourism routes and activities in coastal communities, incorporating educational programs or sustainability-promoting activities in sustainable fisheries management, aquaculture, and tourism. The information gathered will be used to analyze the area's current situation and enhance existing local tourism, linking it to low-carbon tourism and creating low-carbon tourism routes in the coastal communities of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 14: Life Below Water (to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development) and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals (to strengthen cooperation with relevant networks and agencies).
