Walailak University (WU) has strengthened staff mobility with Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics (UMTE), Russia, and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia.
On 14 June 2024, the university had the opportunity to welcome Associate Professor Dr. George Varlamov, Head of the International Co-operation Department at UMTE, Russia, and Dr. Sah-Hadiyatan Ismail from the School of Distance Learning at USM, Malaysia, for the university visit and lectures to WU students.
During their visit, the two professors paid a courtesy call to President Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong at the Honor Hall of Walailak University Hospital. They also met with the university's administrative team and representatives from the Center for International Affairs, the School of Education and Liberal Arts, and Walailak University International College (WUIC).
In the afternoon, Dr. Sah-Hadiyatan Ismail gave a lecture titled " A Historical Research on Health and Sanitation Services During the Japanese Occupation of Malaya 1941-1945" to around 25 WU Political Science and Public Administration students at Khaoluang Chamber, Cooperative Education Building.
On the same afternoon, Associate Professor Dr. George Varlamov gave a lecture titled "Modern Economy and Culture of Russia" to WUIC students at the International College, Architectural and Design Building.
Dr. Suchita Manajit, Vice Dean of WUIC, said, “Today’s lecture provides students with insights into Russia, especially about doing business. And this year marks the first year that our students from WUIC will be participating in the exchange program at UMTE, and it will also be UMTE's inaugural student exchange program with Walailak University”.
