School of Liberal Arts, Walailak University, Strengthens Academic and International Collaboration with Leading Chinese Universities



From May 4 to 10, 2025, the School of Liberal Arts at Walailak University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charun Bunyakan, Vice President and Acting Dean, along with a team of administrators and faculty members, engaged in academic and international collaboration discussions with three leading universities in the China.

The delegation included Dr. Kamontip Klaibanmai, Acting Dean;Mr. Theerawat Klaokliang, Assistant Dean and Thai language lecturer; Asst. Prof. Dr. Pawares Funoi, Assistant Dean and Chinese language lecturer; Dr. Nujaree Suttiphan; Mr. Mingwei Huang, Chinese language lecturer; and Ms. Anutsara Ruengmak, Thai language lecturer.

Key Discussion Highlights:

1. Yunnan University:
The team participated in meetings and signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the faculty level and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the university level with Yunnan University’s administrators. These agreements aim to strengthen institutional ties and broaden the scope of academic cooperation between the two universities.

2. Guangxi Minzu University:
Discussions were held with representatives from Guangxi Minzu University to explore potential academic collaboration, including student exchanges between Thailand and China, joint research initiatives, and co-supervision of Ph.D. students.

3. Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Nanguo:
The delegation also met with administrators at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Nanguo to enhance and expand academic cooperation. Key areas of focus included student and faculty exchange programs, collaborative teaching and research, publication of academic articles in international databases, co-development of teaching materials, and organizing online academic seminars for faculty and students of both institutions.

The outcomes of these discussions will pave the way for the signing of further memoranda of understanding, with a goal to foster and develop collaborative efforts in joint curriculum development, faculty and student exchanges, and other mutually beneficial academic initiatives in the future.
