Mr. Lord Sam Liston, a Master’s degree student in the Drug and Cosmetic Innovation program at the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, has brought great recognition to the university by winning the Platinum Award for his oral presentation at the 8th International Conference and Exhibition on Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology (PST2025). The event, held under the theme “Advancing Pharmaceutical Frontiers: Collaboration, Innovation, and Patient-Centric Solutions”, took place on June 12–13, 2025, at the Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok.
The conference was jointly organized by more than 19 pharmaceutical organizations and faculties of pharmacy and is held annually. This prestigious international event attracted over 295 top-notch experts, researchers, pharmaceutical industry professionals, and undergraduate and graduate students in pharmaceutical sciences. Mr. Lord Sam Liston was among the selected participants invited to deliver an oral presentation and was honored with the top award in the Graduate Student category, competing among more than 58 master's and doctoral students.
His award-winning research was entitled:
"The Potential of Liposome and Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) Combination for Skin Penetration Enhancement of Topical Lidocaine Formulation"
The presentation focused on an innovative strategy utilizing cold atmospheric plasma in combination with liposomes to enhance the transdermal delivery of topical lidocaine. The study also explored how cold atmospheric plasma affects skin properties that could influence the permeation efficiency of the active pharmaceutical ingredient and its liposomal delivery system.
This research was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pajaree Sakdiset as the main thesis advisor, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchai Sawatdee from the School of Pharmacy and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mudtorlep Nisoa from the School of Science as co-advisors.
This outstanding achievement reflects the high quality of graduate research in the Drug and Cosmetic Innovation program, and demonstrates the program's capability to present innovative pharmaceutical concepts and technologies with pride on the international stage.
