From May 27 to June 1, 2025, the team of 10 students from School of Liberal Arts (SLA), Walailak University, under the SLA Ambassador Program 2025 visited Singapore for the educational trip. Supervising the team were Dr. Darunee Boonkrong, a lecturer in the Chinese Language Program, and Mr. Korakot Kamhaeng, a lecturer in the Thai for Communication Program.
This educational trip is part of the School’s mission to enhance student quality by fostering academic excellence and life skills through experiential learning in Singapore’s multicultural society. During the trip, the students explored academic approaches in the humanities and social sciences, with a focus on the postgraduate study environment at the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), followed by a visit to museums and cultural landmarks, such as the National Museum of Singapore, ArtScience Museum, National Gallery Singapore, Merlion Park, and Sentosa Island and religious sites that reflect Singapore’s religious diversity, including St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Sultan Mosque, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, and Yueh Hai Ching Temple. To conclude the trip, the team broadened their perspective on cultural differences by visiting ethnic neighborhoods such as Kampong Glam, Little India, and Chinatown, to learn about the daily lives and traditions of various ethnic communities.
The SLA Ambassador program is aimed to enhance students’ language proficiency, intercultural communication skills, and cultural literacy in a diverse society. It also sought to broaden students' global outlook and inspire cross-border learning. This is aligned with the School of Liberal Arts’s commitment to empowering students to become global citizens with knowledge, life skills, and cultural awareness essential for living and working in the 21st century.
