English Program, School of Liberal Arts, Organizes “Beyond the Horizon” Study Trip to Hong Kong and Macau to Broaden Students’ Global Perspective

From May 26 to 30, 2025, the English Program under the School of Liberal Arts, Walailak University, organized an educational study trip to the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions of the People’s Republic of China. The trip, conducted under the theme “Beyond the Horizon: Exploring Foreign Cultures,” aimed to enhance students’ English language skills in real-life contexts while fostering a deeper understanding of international cultures, lifestyles, and histories.

Over the course of five days, 16 participating students engaged in a series of enriching educational experiences at prominent historical, cultural, and world-renowned landmarks. Highlights of the trip included:

  • A visit to the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, where students explored the historical evolution of Hong Kong from ancient times to the modern era
  •  An excursion to A-Ma Temple, the oldest temple in Macau, widely believed to be the origin of the name “Macau”
  • Sightseeing tours of major attractions such as Hong Kong Disneyland, Avenue of Stars, A Symphony of Lights, Senado Square, The Londoner Macao, and The Venetian Macao

The “Beyond the Horizon” initiative provided students not only with opportunities to practice their English communication skills in authentic settings but also to engage in meaningful cultural exchanges. This experience encouraged a broader worldview and helped prepare students to become global citizens in an increasingly interconnected world.
