The Walai Arsa Team from Walailak University (WU), the owner of the academic work “Innovation in Digital Mapping for Navigation and Accident Analysis at Walailak University,” won the first prize in the youth innovation at the 16th National Road Safety Seminar, themed “Road Safety Stronger Together.” The event took place at the IMPACT Forum, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province. The team received a plaque, a certificate, and a cash prize of 10,000 baht.
The team members included Mr. Yanakamin Phomcharoen, a student from the School of Allied Health Sciences, project leader, Mr. Punnaton Kumruk, Mr. Siwakorn Rakwong, and Miss Pornprom Khwanmueang from the School of Informatics. The team was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Arthit Boonrodchu, Assistant to the President; and Acting. Capt. Sarawut Inpin from the Division of Student Support and Development.
The Innovation in Digital Mapping for Navigation and Accident Analysis at Walailak University was developed by Walai Arsa, which play a key role in helping students during emergencies and observed that accidents within the university frequently occur in recurring locations, which can be identified as “high-risk areas.” In response, the club collected data to analyze these risk locations within the university.
This led to monitoring driver behavior and observing environmental conditions that contribute to accidents in high-risk areas. The digital mapping also serves as a database, enabling the Walai Arsa team to reduce response times and improve accuracy when traveling to accident sites.
The academic work received significant attention from the judges and attendees during the presentation. The Walai Arsa Club plans to integrate the innovation into its operations and continue developing it to achieve efficiency.
